The Safe Tech division designed and built a display case for the preservation of Antonello da Messina’s Ecce Homo panel painting during the renovation of the halls.The structure, made of powder-coated metal, consists of a container to hold the artwork secured with anti-tilt brackets, a passive humidity absorber and a datalogger for microclimate control. An anti-reflective, anti-UV laminated glass serves as frontal protection. pH-neutral gaskets allows for limited exchange with the external environment.

At MAST – Manifattura di Arti, Sperimentazione e Tecnologia in Bologna, Safe Tech took part in the installation of the Photography Grant on Industry and Work exhibition, an event held from January 2023 to May 2023 that displayed the photographic works of the prize finalists. Safe Tech provided support during handling and condition checking the artworks. Through a dedicated software, each photograph on display was recorded along with its conservation conditions.

Wall hanging system for an antique painted wooden screen, approximately 2 meters long. After drawing up the plan for the safe display of the artifact, Safe Tech was responsible for the supply and installation of painted metal brackets that were fastened to the wall with an anti-tilt and a support function. Thanks to this system, the artwork is now safely displayed, avoiding excessive movement of the panel joint lines as well as excessive rigidity of the fastening system.


Uffizi Gallery, Florence

Construction of box climaframe for several artworks, belonging to the Uffizi, for the Shanghai Bund One Art Museum’s exhibition Botticelli and the Renaissance opened to public since April 2023. The structures have been equipped with new gilded frames, acrylic protective glasses, rear closure with Dibond panels already prepared for hanging, and compartments for sheets of stabilizing material as well as dataloggers.


Ottocento Museum, Bologna

Construction and assembly of self-supporting exhibition panels made of fireproof MDF for the new Museo Ottocento in Bologna. After its brand-new construction, the museum was opened to the public for the first time in April 2023 to display the permanent collection, consisting of artworks on various media created by Bolognese artists active from the mid-19th century to the first half of the 20th century.

Freising Diocesan Museum, Munich

The Diocesan Museum in Freising, for the exhibition Delizia e Dannazione. Chiesa, Arte e Sessualità commissioned the Safe Tech department to supply a climaframe equipped with a new frame for the transport and display of Jan Verbeeck’s painted panel Temptations of St. Anthony Abbot from the Palazzo Spinola in Genoa. The new wooden frame was handcrafted and included profile molding, pictorial surface treatment, and gold leaf gilding.


Vinitaly, Verona

During the Bacco Divino initiative, organized by Vinitaly, two masterpieces from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence – Guido Reni’s Bacco fanciullo and Caravaggio’s Bacco – were safely transported and displayed thanks to travel-framed climaframes manufactured by Safe Tech. Both climaframes, sealed with inert materials, were equipped with museum glass front protection, a relative humidity absorber and a datalogger for monitoring any microclimatic variations. The two new wooden frames were constructed with neutral shapes and tones so that the viewer attention focus was directed to the artworks themselves.

Design and construction of a climaframe within the original frame for Georges Pierre Seurat’s work La Grève du Bas Butin à Honfleur, an oil on canvas dating back to 1886, which is now exhibited under adequate safety and conservation conditions. The climaframe allows the artwork to be isolated and protected; it is built with pH-neutral products to avoid any material deterioration process. Adding a relative humidity stabilizer helps maintaining a stable environment over time.
